Ally Lease Buyouts: Your Real Options

Ally sits on both sides of this transaction — it's the leasing company on many dealership leases, and it finances buyouts too. Here's how the pieces fit, honestly.

The 15-second answer

If your lease is with Ally, your buyout starts with the payoff quote in your ally.com account. To finance it, you have real choices: Ally's own lease-buyout loan (offered directly as of August 2026, with some state exclusions), or one application through Lease Solutions compared across our partner lenders. Either way, the payoff, title, registration, and plates can be handled for you — in most states with no dealership visit at all.

Ally Wears Two Hats

Ally started in 1919 as GMAC — General Motors' financing arm — and a century later it's a $200-billion financial company by its own mid-2026 figures, with an auto business that still runs deep through dealerships. Two of its roles matter to you:

  • Ally the leasing company. Through its dealer SmartLease program, Ally is the lessor behind many leases signed at dealerships — often for brands without their own captive lender. If your lease paperwork says Ally, your buyout quote lives in your ally.com account under Lease-End Options.
  • Ally the buyout lender. As of August 2026, Ally also offers lease buyout loans directly to consumers — for Ally leases and other companies' leases — with published terms of 36 to 75 months, available except in DC, Indiana, Nevada, Vermont, and Wisconsin.

That second hat makes Ally unusual among our partner lenders: it competes for the same loan we arrange. We think that's fine to say out loud — an informed comparison is the whole reason to read a page like this.

Direct vs. Arranged: An Honest Comparison

Applying directly with Ally gets you one lender's decision, and their published process (pre-qualify with a soft pull, then apply) is straightforward. Going through Lease Solutions changes two things. First, one application is compared across partner lenders rather than answered by one bank — approvals compete. Second, the transaction gets finished for you: payoff coordination with the leasing company, then title, registration, and plates, for one flat $695 fee — the part that otherwise means paperwork and a DMV line.

Common Questions

Does Ally offer lease buyout loans?

Yes. As of August 2026, Ally offers lease buyout financing directly to consumers online — including buyouts of leases held with other leasing companies — with published terms of 36 to 75 months, in every state except DC, Indiana, Nevada, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Details on ally.com can change; confirm with the lender.

My lease itself is with Ally. How do I get my buyout number?

Log in at ally.com, select your vehicle, and choose Lease-End Options (or Get Payoff Quote), or call Ally’s listed lease-end line. That payoff quote — not the residual alone — is the number a buyout is built on. A Lease Solutions specialist can also pull your payoff with you and walk through what it means.

If Ally already offers this loan, why involve Lease Solutions?

Comparison and completion. Applying with a single lender gets you that lender’s answer; one application through Lease Solutions is compared across our partner lenders, and your specialist handles the payoff, title, registration, and plates start to finish. If Ally’s direct offer is genuinely your best option, nothing stops you from taking it — we’d rather you get the right loan than any particular loan.

Is Lease Solutions affiliated with Ally?

No. Lease Solutions LLC is an independent broker. Ally is one of several partner lenders financing is arranged through; it does not endorse or sponsor Lease Solutions. All loans are subject to lender credit approval.

Can I sell my Ally-leased car to a third party like CarMax instead?

Maybe — leasing companies set their own rules about third-party buyouts, the rules change, and the payoff quoted to a third party can differ from yours. Check your lease agreement and confirm directly with Ally before planning on it. Buying the car yourself at your contract payoff, then deciding what to do with it, is often the cleaner path.

Lease Solutions LLC is an independent broker, not a lender, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ally Financial Inc. Financing is arranged through partner lenders; all loans are subject to lender credit approval. Statements about Ally's products reflect its public website as of August 2026 and can change — confirm current details with the lender.
